Vertical shaft kiln cement plant is a production way that uses the vertical fixed kiln as the core equipment. Due to low investment and well-adapted, it is widely suitable for small and medium-sized cement plants.
working principle of VSK cement plant
In the vertical shaft kiln, the clinker is formed by the vertical descent from the feeding opening at the top. The smoke then flows upward through a large number of holes in the furnace body, achieving the purpose of preheating the smoke. The clinke goes through three distinct sections in sequence. During the rising process, the raw material could gradually lose moisture and undergo a solid-phase reaction. At the bottom of the kiln, due to the effect of high temperature, the clinker undergoes calcination to achieve the purpose of preparing cement clinker.
Vertical shaft kiln has an important effect during the calcination of cement. By controlling parameters such as the airflow and temperature inside the kiln, one could effectively adjust the calcination process of the clinker, thus influencing the formation of cement performance.

Step 1: Raw material preparation
Producing cement needs various raw materials, such as limestone, clay, and iron ore. These raw materials are crushed, then stored separately in the storage silo.
Step 2: Raw material ratio
The ratio of cement raw materials is a crucial step in the production of cement. The raw material ratio for cement plants is generally around 67–75% limestone, 10–15% clay, 0.5–1.5% iron ore, and 8.5–11% coal
Step 3: Raw material grinding
It is a key step in cement production that involves crushing, mixing, and grinding the raw materials to produce fine powder. The raw material grinding system usually employs vertical mills or ball mills to mix limestone, clay, and other raw materials in accordance with the specified ratio and grind them to a fineness of 80 μm with a residue of ≤ 12%, ensuring that the subsequent calcination reaction is fully effective.
Step 4: Cement clinker calcination
The clinker is a substance formed when raw materials undergo high-temperature calcination in a vertical shaft kiln.
Step 5: Cement clinker cooling
The clinker that undergoes calcination could produce a large amount of thermal energy, which needs to be cooled before proceeding with the subsequent processing.
Step 6: Cement grinding
The cement clinker takes the form of irregular spheres. They are mixed with gypsum in a fixed ratio and then ground in a cement mill to produce qualified cement.
Step 7: Cement packing
The cement is packed in cement bags and transported to the sales market.
