- Environmentally friendly manufacturing: Our PCC uses environmentally friendly processes to support greener industrial practices.
Applications of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate
- Paper Industry: precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) is widely used in the paper industry as a filler and coating agent for high-grade paper products, including printing paper, stationery, and tissue. It enhances brightness, opacity, and surface finish, making it ideal for producing premium-quality printing and writing paper.
- Plastics and Polymers: in the plastics and polymers industry, PCC serves as a functional filler for both soft and rigid compounds. It is used in products such as wire, pipes, cable insulation, garbage bags, and latex gloves to improve strength, durability, and surface finish.
- Paints and Coatings: PCC is a key ingredient in paints and coatings, where it enhances opacity, whiteness, and scrubbing resistance. Its inclusion ensures a superior finish and long-lasting performance in various applications.
- Pharmaceutical Industry: in pharmaceuticals, PCC is utilized as an inert filler in tablets and other preparations. It is also a critical component in the production of calcium salts, nutritional supplements, and food fortifiers, such as calcium citrate, calcium ascorbate, and buffer aspirin.
- Rubber Industry: PCC is an essential reinforcing agent in the rubber industry, used in products like tire belts, shoe soles, floor mats, conveyor belts, hoses, and floor tiles. It improves the mechanical properties of rubber products, enhancing their durability and extending their service life.
The process of PCC production
- Step 1: Preparation Of Limestone: the key raw material for the production of PCC is limestone, which is mined from quarries, and samples are taken to ensure that the limestone meets the standards for the production of PCC.
- Step 2: Calcination: Limestone To Quicklime: the preheated limestone is sent to a lime rotary kiln for calcining. In lime kilns, limestone breaks down at high temperatures, producing calcium oxide and carbon dioxide.
- Step 3: Hydrating Quicklime: the second process is hydration, in which quicklime is combined with water to produce calcium hydroxide, often referred to as hydrated lime. The product of this process is the basis for the formation of precipitated calcium carbonate.
- Step 4: Carbonation – Making Calcium Carbonate Precipitate: under certain conditions, carbon dioxide gas (CO₂) passes through the calcium hydroxide slurry in the carbonization stage to form a pure calcium carbonate ₃ (CaCO₃). This process must be controlled to achieve the characteristics of PCC, including particle size, shape, and surface properties.
- Step 5: Filtering and Drying: after production, the PCC water must be separated. This is done through filtration equipment, which is used to filter particles from liquid solutions. The filtered PCC is then dried.
- Step 6: Packing: during the packaging process, the PCC is bagged, and a desiccant is added. Then, seal the bag to ensure the quality of the product.
