How to extract neem oil
Collecting and separating
Neem oil is usually extracted from neem seeds. Because harvesting times and growing conditions vary, the seeds differ in size and oil content. Therefore, the neem seeds must be classified and graded according to their characteristics so that they can be processed separately.
Cleaning and drying
After classification, use a cleaning sieve to remove impurities from the seeds. Then, dry the seeds in the sun to reduce their moisture content.
Pressing
After cleaning and drying, the neem seeds are sent to the oil-pressing machinery. Continuous pressure inside the oil press generates friction and temperatures above 140°F (approximately 60°C), causing the oil to flow out of the press.
Filtering
The oil discharged from the oil press is not pure. It must be filtered and refined to meet market standards. After refining, the oil is stored.
