Cleaning
First, corn is removed from impurities by a clean sieve and a magnetic separator.
Softening
Adjusting the temperature and moisture content of the corn germ. Softening can improve its processing performance and increase extraction efficiency during the pressing and extraction processes. It is also helpful to the peeling process and reduces residual oil in food.
Peeling
The thickness of the corn germ is 0.2 – 0.3 millimeters. This step will affect oil yield and production efficiency.
Cooking
The cooking effect is mainly determined by the temperature, moisture, and time. Cooking is to soften the seed, increase oil release, and prepare for pressing. The moisture content is reduced to 3%-4%.
Pressing
The temperature of the cake meal should be controlled at 100℃. Due to corn germ having high oil content, it needs to be pressed twice to extract the oil. During pressing, you should pay attention to keeping the oil pipeline clean.
Refining
Before refining, it needs to undergo hydrolysis and decoking. Hydrolysis is made by heating corn oil to 75-80℃, adding 5-10% water while stirring, and incorporating an appropriate amount of salt. Then, undergo steps such as degumming and deacidification to obtain pure oil. After refining, the oil meets national standards and can be directly marketed and sold.
