How to make black cumin seed oil？

3.1 : Hot pressing

Cooking: After crushing, the black seed should be cooked at a temperature of 100–120℃ for 20-30 minutes. This process will reduce the water content of the seeds to 10%–15%.

Pressing: The pressing is carried out using a spiral oil press. The oil is squeezed out from the seed embryo, forming crude oil. The hot pressing method has a higher oil extraction rate, but the resulting crude oil has a darker color, and the acid value may be relatively higher.

Screening and cleaning

First, Black seed removes big impurities and iron using a clean sieve, then removes metallic substances by a magnetic separator to ensure the raw material is clean.

Crushing

Black seed is crushed into small pieces by the crushing machine, allowing it to transfer water and heat more effectively during the cooking process. This increases the contact surface area.

3.2: cold pressing

Pressing: black seed adopts cold pressing and does not involve high-temperature roasting of the seeds or the use of chemical solvents through low-speed screw pressing machine. Then it forms crude oil. At a low temperature range of 35–45℃, the black seeds are directly pressed. The resulting oil product only needs to undergo sedimentation or physical filtration before being bottled and sold. This method is suitable for high-value-added product markets such as health supplements, functional edible oils, and cosmetic raw materials.

4: Refining and Filtration (Optional)

The hot pressing process requires refining. The refining process includes procedures such as decoupling, desalination, and deodorization. After refining, the oil is filtrated by a filter screen to remove impurities. It is suitable for food processing, the bulk edible oil market, wholesale trading markets, and some industrial or blended oil applications.

Black seed can be hot-pressed or cold-pressed; the main difference is the temperature used during seed processing and extraction. This will affect the output, quality, color, flavor, and production cost of the oil. Different extraction methods are suitable for different applications.
