Step 1: Screening and cleaning
Black seed first removes big impurities and iron filings by a screening machine. Then the metal substances are removed by a magnetic separator to ensure raw material cleanness.
Step 2: Crushing
Using a crusher to break the black seed into 2 to 4 pieces, increasing the surface area to facilitate the transfer of moisture and temperature during subsequent cooking.
Step 3.1: hot pressing
Cooking: after crushing, the black seeds are cooked by steaming at a temperature of 100 – 120℃ for 20 – 30 minutes. It makes seed embryos reach the appropriate moisture content (typically 10% – 15%) and the appropriate degree of ripening. This helps oil release.
Hot Pressing: to keep active ingredients and obtain the purest black seed oil. Screw oil pressing machine is the most efficient and cost-effective equipment in extracting black seed oil. The entire oil extraction process carried out using the spiral oil press does not require the addition of any chemicals. Under a pressure of 30 to 50 MPa, the oil is squeezed out from the seed embryos, forming crude oil. Hot press has a higher oil yield, but crude oil has a darker color, and its acidity may be relatively high.
Step 3.2: cold pressing
Cold pressing: Black seed oil cold press is without undergoing high-temperature roasting of the seeds or using chemical solvents; the process is carried out using low-speed screw press equipment. Typically, in a low-temperature environment of 35–45℃, the cleaned black seeds are subjected directly to mechanical pressing. The obtained oil has a natural color and high nutritional value. Usually, it only needs to undergo sedimentation or physical filtration before being bottled and sold. It is suitable for markets with high-value-added products such as health supplements, functional edible oils, and cosmetic raw materials.
Step 4: Refining and filtation（option）
It is to obtain pure oil. Refining includes degumming, deacidifying, and deodorizing processes. After refining, the black seed oil is filtered through a filter with a pore size of 5-10 μm. This could remove impurities and produce clear and transparent refined oil products. Suitable for use in food processing, the bulk edible oil market,the wholesale trading market, as well as some industrial or blended oil applications.
