Copra Oil Mill
We offer high-quality solutions designed specifically for copra oil production, with capacity from 1-100 tpd.
Refined coconut oil, also known as copra oil, is made from dried coconut flesh and undergoes further processing, while virgin coconut oil(VCO) is extracted from fresh coconut meat without refining. AGICO provides the pressing and refining of copra oil. Given its high demand in food and chemical industries, establishing a copra oil mill can be highly profitable.
The copra oil production process combines modern technology with traditional practices to produce high-quality, sought-after copra oil. Every stage, from dried coconut preparation to pressing and refining, plays a vital role in ensuring the oil’s purity, flavor, and nutritional value.
the process of copra oil mill
step 1
Cleaning
You will remove various impurities such as sand, leaves, stones, liquids, and metals from the raw material using a clean sieve and magnetic separator.
step 2
Crushing
Using a hammer crusher break large pieces of coconut meat, the size can reach 180mm × 100mm × 6mm. The hammer crusher will increase the size of the screen, reduce the number of hammerheads, and evenly arrange the hammerhead cross.
step 3
Flaking
After crushing, the oil has penetrated the surface of the material. Increase the rolling distance, by about 3 ~ 4.5mm, and peel off the dried coconut. This is helpful to avoid the power degree being too high, sticking on the drum, and not smooth material discharge.
step 4
Cooking
The crushed coconut is sent to the top of the cooker, which cooks the pieces to achieve pre-press requirements. To avoid waste, it is necessary to reduce the mixing time and clean the feed ports of the cooker and elevator frequently.
step 5
Pressing
The pretreatment coconut is lifted into the prepress for the initial press, followed by the main press for the secondary press. The device can extract about 70% of coconut oil, and the oil content in the residue is about 15-20%.
step 6
Refining
After the oil press, it still contains impurities, which need to be removed. This process includes degumming tanks, neutralizing units, bleaching units, and filtration systems.

The cost of coconut oil mill
Raw material cost
The raw material of copra oil is dried coconut. The cost is affected by coconut planting, picking transportation, and other factors. The main plant areas such as Lanka, Malaysia, India, and the Philippines can affect costs. The purchase price of fresh coconuts is about $1.38 per 2.5 kg (about 1 coconut). If it is a hot pressing process, about 6 to 8 coconuts are needed to produce 500 grams of copra oil; For the cold press process, it takes 10 to 13 coconuts to produce 500 grams of copra oil.
Finished cost
The extraction process of copra oil includes processes such as pressing or leaching, and the level of technology and equipment maintenance will also affect the cost. Finished costs include removing the coconut coat, breaking the coconut shell, taking the coconut meat, etc. The average price is about $0.2 per 2.5 kilograms of coconut. If it is a cold press process, the foundry cost is about $6.6; For a hot press process, the finished fee is about $3.8.
Transport and storage cost
The transport and storage of copra oil account for a certain proportion, especially the higher transportation costs in the international market.
Where do the profits from the coconut oil mill plant
- Product sale: coconut oil is mainly used in the food industry, cosmetics and washing products industry, and other fields. As global consumer demand for health and natural products increases, the demand for coconut oil also rapidly increases.
- By-product utilization: the coconut oil production process will produce some by-products, such as coconut shells, coconut meat, etc. These by-products can also be used for other industrial purposes, further increasing the revenue stream.
The demand of coconut oil is increasing, Key drivers include:
- Awareness of health increase: with the global consumer increase in the demand for healthy and natural products, coconut oil has attracted much attention due to its unique nutritional value and wide range of applications.
