AGICO chemi mechanical pulping solution
- Chemical mechanical pulping is also called twin-screw mechanical pulping (TSMP pulping). It adopts a pulp-making technology that takes the TSP machine as the core equipment. It takes advantage of the principle of twin-screw extrusion machinery, combining the chemi-mechanical pulping process to develop a new technology. It has low consumption and high yield characteristics.
- The TSMP pulping we offer can significantly increase the bulk thickness or tensile strength (such as breaking strength) of the pulp for various applications. It is widely used in the production of white card paper, boxboard paper, household paper, office paper, banknote paper, and other paper types.
chemi mechanical pulping process
step 1
Raw material preparation: the raw material is cut into sections and impurities.
step 2
Steam Pretreatment: Raw material is heated by steam, making the fiber structure soften and swell.
step 3
Impregnation: the material is soaked in the chemical solution, increasing fiber grindability.
step 4
Refining: the fiber is separated by a consistency refiner, forming pulp.
step 5
Washing: remove the residual solution, reduce the impurity content.
step 6
Dewatering: Increase the solid content of the pulp to facilitate transportation or subsequent processing.
advantages of chemi mechanical pulping
Widely appliaction of raw material
Broadleaf wood, linen, coniferous wood, jute, cotton fibers, sugarcane residue, rice and wheat straw, cotton stalks, palm tree empty fruit clusters, sorghum stalks, bamboo, hemp, recycled fibers, and other non-wood fibers can all be used to produce TSMP pulping.
Compact production process
Traditional chemical pulp requires a long time to cook, wash, and bleach. At the same time, TSMP Chemical mechanical pulping is mainly produced by pre-steaming, extrusion impregnation, hot grinding, and screening. The TSP machine is directly connected to auxiliary equipment, reducing the number of intermediate steps.
Low production energy consumption
A compact production process means a small floor area and fewer auxiliary equipment. So this could save 20%-30% chemical medicine and reduce the power consumption of mechanical pulping by 25% to 35%. The investment and running costs are less than those of other chemical-mechanical pulping.
Optimal pulp quality
The twin-screw structure can compress the wood chips more thoroughly. It makes impregnation more evenly. The fiber is softened thoroughly. Thus, when separation is mild, the proportion of short fibers is reduced. Tensile strength and tear resistance are higher, and optical performance is maintained better. So it is suitable for printing paper.

Washing & Dewatering System
Including washing machines, screw presses, disc filter, belt presses, they can remove lignin, fine particles and dissolved substances, ensuring the cleanliness of the pulp.
TSP machine
The washing water rejected could achieve direct washing and countercurrent washing, and could achieve high efficiency washing. This highly concentrated washing process saves more water and produces less wastewater. It also takes a high-efficiency mixer to finish press, achieving both the extrusion and grinding processes while rapidly and uniformly mixing the slurry with the chemical solution (bleaching agent) at a high concentration (25-45%).
High Consistency Refiner
It is a disc mill that operates under a higher pulp concentration. It is mainly used to separate and modify fibers. It could operate in high consistency and temperature. It could better separate the wood chip fibers and increase pulp strength. The prepared pulp has a high content of long fibers and maintains good optical properties, making it particularly suitable for cultural paper.
Chip Steaming Bin / Reaction Bin
- The wood chip is pre-heated, ensuring a uniform water ratio and temperature evenly to prepare for impregnation and hot grinding.
- Allow the wood chips to be fully soaked and react with steam or chemical solutions to ensure they soften thoroughly. It is usually equipped with a TSP machine to form a continuous pre-treatment system.
TSP machine parameter
| Capacity | 50–500 TPD |
|---|---|
| Pulp consistency | 25–35% |
| Steam temperature | 120–140°C |
| Steam pressure | 2–4 bar |
| Power consumption | 80–150 kWh/T |
Applications of chemi mechanical pulping
The advantage of TSMP is high fiber strength, low cost, and the ability to be flexibly mixed with other pulp. So it could be used for banknote paper, securities paper, household paper, cultural paper, packaging paper, whiteboard paper, coated paper, etc.
